Hi Larry /ETS

The ARRL news is connected to an Allstar hub which does have nodes
connecting & disconnecting at will. This is to insure that the node operator
has an acknowledgement of his node connected/disconnected.

It's at the discretion of the node operator to have this automated
voice silenced or not. There is a way to do it,either the node operators
don't know how to do it or,just want an on air acknowledgement of
connection status.

When a hub has many nodes connected to it,you will hear those
commands. This also happens on other voice over IP systems like
IRLP/Echolink.The bigger the hub,the more connections.

The only real solution to all this is to have a direct connection to
the source. Not well schooled here on the proceedure as of yet.

Just giving you/Everyone a run down on what's involved on the
system.Hopefully at some future point, there can be remediation so until
that time, all of us have to deal with it.There are larger hubs on Allstar
that have close to 100 Repeaters linked& the connect/ disconnect commands
are unbearable. If in excess,it annoys me too.

Glad you are enjoying the ARRL news. The Technical Committee strives to
have interesting topics related to ham radio on our Repeaters. Our equipment
is top notch & everyone on the team strives to be the best they
can.Comments always welcome from the membership.
