To all club HF Hamsters,

For those who may be interested in the latest Icom HF equipment.

The following is a re-transmission from Adam Farsan, the moderator and RF engineer for the yahoo IC-7300 group. He is very knowledgeable as an RF engineer, has an extensive website devoting much information about Icom rigs, and also has close ties to Icom with the latest information.

This new Icom rig is a dramatic change in the tradition of HF design from Icom. There are a few Japanese youtube posts showing the rig in operation as well. The cost in Yen translates to a reasonable dollar value but it remains to be seen as to the actual US cost. - The translated page may take a few moments to load...

His recent post is as follows:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There is a new, fairly detailed IC-7300 product page on the Icom Japan JA-language's website,

http://www.icom.co.jp/products/amateur/products/basestation/ic-7300/

I have created a link to a Google translation:

This is the link to the new Japanese-language IC-7300 brochure:
http://www.icom.co.jp/support/download/catalog/pdf/IC-7300.pdf

The IC-7300 is a true direct-sampling/DUC SDR; the simplified block diagram reflects this. The RF preselector features 15 contiguous bandpass filters to maximize ADC headroom in each frequency range. There is also a feature termed "IP+", which appears to extend the ADC dynamic range automatically in the presence of strong signals.

The JA domestic MSRP is JPY 139K.

I have updated my IC-7300 page per this new information.
