for the Meeting on May
30th, 2014

Technology Society of New Jersey (ETS of NJ)


The Meeting was
called to order by Vice President Dave Vadney W2OIL at 8:10 PM.  This
was followed by the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance and then by
self-introductions of all those in attendance.  It was noted that
Jeff N2VHV and Don K2DSV were both under the weather and were MIA.
Sincere wishes for their continued recoveries were noted.
Meeting Minutes
The April Minutes were successfully received via e-mail, therefore a
motion was made to suspend the reading of the minutes and also for
their acceptance.  Motion was made by W2WIQ and was seconded by
N2JUN. The motion was unanimously passed.
Treasurer’s
Report
Treasurer’s report
as of May 30th given by Vic K2NBC.
Opening Balance -
$XXXX.03
Income -  50/50
$XX.00, Dues $XX.00, Coffee kitty $X.00.  A deposit of $XX.00 was
made after the April meeting.
Disbursements -
$XX.84 to Verizon
Closing Balance -
$XXXX.19
Last year at this
time our balance was $XXXX.72 – we are “up” $XXX.47 from this
point last year.
A
motion was made by N2JUN
and seconded by W2WIQ
to accept the Treasurer’s Report. By unanimous vote the report was
accepted.
Correspondence
None.
Technical Report
Rich KB2LLM reported
that we have been notified that Mirage will not be manufacturing any
new 220 MHz amplifiers. Rich had been in contact with Henry Radio,
which offers a commercial quality amplifier for $625.00.  Walter
W2WIQ feels that our current amplifier still has usable service life
and can be continued to be used by bypassing the amplifier's relay. A
vote of club membership by show of hands indicated that Walter should
attempt this.  Rich mentioned that if the amp is re-installed and
can't handle it, the amplifier will fail quickly. In this event,
membership gave him the authority to purchase the Henry Radio
amplifier.
Old Business
Picnic  - Dan and
Dave have visited the picnic site and mentioned that a new pavilion
is being built,  They also mentioned that “Fanwood Days” are
being held the same day as the picnic, so extra raod traffic might be
a result.  Setup is to commence around 11:30 AM. All are welcome to
come and help out. Rich KB2LLM will be providing music.
New Business
New
K2ETS QSL cards will be needed soon. Membership was encouraged to
submit designs.
Good of the club
Walter
told us about his birthday announcement on WCBS TV that was arranged
by his family.
The
RVRC Hamfest will be held the weekend preceding Field Day.
The
newly formed South Plainfield Amateur Radio Club will be holding
Field Day at Spring Lake Park. All are welcome to come and
participate.
Adjournment
A motion was made to
adjourn the meeting by N2JUN and was seconded by W2VFW. The meeting
was adjourned at 8:54 PM
