I have learned how to do this WITHOUT using a computer, and it is fairly easy.

Here it is:

Baofeng UV82X 220 Menu important settings

11 and 13 are CTCSS (11 rcv, 13 xmit)

25 shift direction +/- (off for simplex)

26 shift offset (1.600 for 220, 600 for 2meters)

27 Mem Chan save

28 Mem Chan delete

33 VHF / UHF

In VFO mode (freq) you want to work with the UPPER freq display

Lets assume we want to set up for 220, so first thing is to set the freq (223.960) and make sure that menu item 33 is set to UHF (The ETS 220 machine).

Now we work on the CTCSS values (menu items 11 and 13) setting to 110.9, the shift direction (item 25) to “-“. And SHIFT VALUE (item 26) to 1.600.

Using to UPPER PTT key see if you can hit the repeater – if you can’t, you get to play a bit more with other menu items until you can finally hit the repeater.

It is now SAVE TO MEMORY time (we are still in VFO or frequency mode)

First look at Menu item 27 – assume you want channel 5 so we set the value to 005.

If we see a CH-005 there in item 27 it means that the channel is occupied so we have to clear it.

To clear it use Mem item 28 (del Chan) – set to 005 and delete it.

Now we can actually save so using Menu 27 (which now says 005) we hit the menu key to save it.

We are NOT finished yet, we have to set our XMIT freq, so back on the freq display we set to 222.360 our xmit frequency (223.960 minus 1.600)

We then save that (Mem 27) and we should be done.

It is now time to test.

Turn unit off and turn on in CHANNEL Mode (hold the menu key while turning the unit on)

Select your memory channel (we were using 005 here)

Try your PTT – good luck
