Hi to all, I have been playing with my new baofeng UT82, and with a LOT of help from the Vadneys and Pete (KD2ARB) have actually learned how to program it WITHOUT using a computer.
User manuals are a lot of fun especially if you enjoy ROOT CANAL work at the dentist.
Years ago we used to refer to the various manuals as being written in “Jingish” a sort of Japanese version of English, Baofengs manual is in Chinglish or a Chinese variation. but I did get through it.
So here is a sample.
Baofeng UV82X 220 Menu settings
33 VHF / UHF
27 Mem Chan save
28 Mem Chan delete
In VFO mode: Using the UPPER display, set up your RCV freq
Set your CTCSS values in Menu items 11 and 13, and freq shift (item 25)
Try hitting the repeater while still in VFO mode
Check (using Menu 27 what mem channel to use and if needed use Menu 28 to delete it
Use Mem 27 to save it
Then reset the VFO freq to the XMIT freq
Use Mem 27 to save.
I now have FOUR channels programmed (the 94, the 625, ETS 220 (off the air right now), and 146.520
Hey it works and talk about “bang for the buck” W O W.
Have fun - 73 and THANKS from Jeff N2VHV.
