[ETS/PARC List] Detroit hit by massive power outage

Drew and crew,
What happened in Detroit was a broken cable. Imagine a cyber attack creating this situation.  In a speech two years ago, Leon E. Panetta, the former defense secretary, predicted it would take a “cyber-Pearl Harbor” , a crippling attack that would cause physical destruction and loss of life ,  to wake up the nation to the vulnerabilities in its computer systems. The same systems that manage the power grid. The power companies especially need to spend monies to create a more secure I/T environment. This however is something they won't do since it doesn't bear any profits. So it goes until the whole thing comes crashing down. You'll need more than a generator and radios to get through that one. Sleep tight !
