Minutes for the Meeting on October 25th, 2013

Electronic Technology Society of New Jersey (ETS of NJ)

The Meeting was called to order by President Jeff Lin N2VHV at 8:04 PM.
This was followed by the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance and then by
self-introductions of all those in attendance.

*Meeting Minutes*

As the minutes from the last meeting had been sent to all members via
e-mail, Jeff N2VHV asked for a motion to dispense with the formal reading.
A motion was made by John AB2VE and seconded by Walter W2WIQ. Motion was
approved.

*Treasurer’s Report*

Treasurer’s report as of October 25th given by Vic K2NBC

Opening Balance - $XXXX.XX

Income - Donut money $X.XX,

Disbursements - $XX.XX to Verizon

Closing Balance - $XXXX.XX

Vic noted that at this point last year, the treasury had a balance of
$XXXX.XX, we are $XXX.XX ahead of where we were last year.

Motion to Accept the Treasurer’s Report was made my Don K2DSV and seconded
by Harvin K2CPA. Motion was passed.

*Correspondence*

A letter was read from Bob Schenck N2OO regarding the upcoming Dxpedition
to Amsterdam Island FT5ZM in January 2014. The letter was a solicitation
for a donation to offset Dxpedition expenses. The club decided that
individuals can make donations if they so desire. The Dxpedition Webiste is
www.amsterdamdx.org. There is a link there where donations can be made.

*Technical Report*

Rich KB2LLM presented a report. The 220 repeater has been shut down because
of problems with the power amplifier. Output without the amp is only 1-2
Watts, make any practical use unfeasible. Rich planned to visit the
repeater site the next Sunday to pull and perhaps repair the amplifier.

Rich upgraded some equipment on the 2 Meter repeater in order to facilitate
linking. Some of the cables need to have their shielding improved.

Don K2DSV brought up the fact that he needs to move the station monitor
from his premises.

*Old Business*

New Slate of Officers was formally approved approved.

Vic K2NBC advised that all club insurance policies have been renewed.

*New Business*

Application for membership for Henry Shannon KD2DRL was read and approved.
Henry was admitted on a unanimous vote.

*Amsterdam Island Dxpedition* – Don K2DSV moved that since ETS of NJ is a
repeater club and not a DX club, it would be unwise to make a club
donation. The link for doing so has been noted above.

*Meeting Date –* The ETS Christmas Meeting/Party will be on December 6.
There will be pizza and a social meeting. Pizza will be ordered from the
same pizzeria as last year, if possible.

Dave W2OIL will send out an e-mail to all club members in order to gauge
attendance.

*Health and Welfare*

Tom KB3UFB – His mother passed away. Rich and Victor has spoken with him
and had passed on condolences on behalf of the club.

Don K2DSV mentioned his recent cataract surgery and how it has improved his
vision.

*Miscellaneous Business*

Jeff N2VHV brought up that efforts should be made to publicize the ETS of
NJ to the surrounding community. Possibly making mention of club meetings
on Clark Municipal TV, Comcast and perhaps the local newspapers. Hopefully,
this in addition to an increase of activity on the repeater itself, might
draw new members.

Dave W2OIL mentioned that he is going to try and make sure all club members
contact information is up to date.

Rich KB2LLM mentioned that we should form a Program Committee in order to
book possible talks and presentations for club meetings.

*Adjournment*

A motion was made to adjourn the meeting by Walter W2WIQ and was seconded
by Dan KC2YRC. The meeting was adjourned at 9:00 PM

*50/50* – Was won by Rodolfo N2HRJ, with the winnings donated back to the
club

*Respectfully Submitted,*

Larry W2LJ
