A note from our past President of ETS, Dr. Paul Scipione. Chris used to run
around our meetings at UCVTTS.

Subject: Latest News about Chris
Hello to my ham radio friends in NJ and CA. Just a short note that hopefully
you can share with other members of ETSNJ and PARC who might recall my
grandson Chris when he was just a little guy. This past week he signed his
NCAA Letter of Intent to play college football at Hartwick College in
Oneonta, NY. Hartwick is a 200-yr old Lutheran school with an excellent
liberal arts program and innovative programs abroad. About 1,800 students
from 35 different states and 10 or 15 different countries. We are also
thrilled with the generous scholarship that they gave Chris that makes his
college education less costly than even a typical state college. Hartwick
plays in the Empire 8 (D3) League which is reputedly the second toughest D3
league in the country (Hartwick; Ithaca College, Hobart & William Smith; St.
John Fisher; SUNY Brockport; Buffalo State College; Utica College; and
Alfred University). They also play schools outside the Empire 8 including
Montclair State, College of New Jersey, Penn State Erie and Towson State and
Salisbury State in Maryland. Because so many of the Empire 8 schools are
closer to us in Livonia than Hartwick (200 miles each way), we will probably
see more of Chris's away games than home games! Linda says she is glad that
he will be 200 miles away so that he won't show up every weekend with all of
his dirty laundry and hungry teammates, hihi. Check out Chris's page on
Facebook at "chris scipione." He is 6-1 and usually plays at a weight of 220
to 225. The Defensive Coordinator is going to try him at Middle Linebacker
as well. He can also sub for any offensive lineman who get injured. The
Hartwick campus is gorgeous, although it is on a steep cliff with 25 mile
views that should be great in the Fall. Chris will be majoring in Accounting
(CPA) and Finance.=
