3D printers have been around for a while.

When I did an environmental audit at L'oreal in Clark, I saw a 3D Printer that was "creating" an actual prototype shampoo bottle for a new product that they were developing.  The device layered a polymer from bottom to top, and the end result was a physical container that copied the image on the designer's computer screen.  Supposedly, this device costs a fortune.

The food printer sounds like the food synthesizer on Star Trek...
