Hello ETS of NJ members,
As of this past Sunday the ETS 220 repeater is back back up and running. At
223.960 MHz the repeater currently requires a PL tone of 110.9 to access it.
After much planning and hard work the repeater is being controlled by
Asterisk. The Node number is 27273.
Many members have stated that the audio sounds great and the repeater has
been operating smoothly. A big thanks to KB2LLM and W2WIQ for their
diligence with the audio quality.
Currently, repeater linking and connections through All Star Link have not
yet been enabled. Some adjustments of the Asterisk programming setup need to
be performed to ensure the integrity and 100% reliability of the system
before linking is enabled. Hopefully this will be completed sometime over
the weekend.
For those who don't already know, Asterisk is software which runs on a
Linux based computer or server operating system. For amateur
radio Asterisk basically provides 2 main functions- a Repeater Controller
and a Repeater linking/remote connection system. The repeater will be able
to link to a number of other repeaters and any amateur radio operator can
access the repeater through AllStarLink.org.
Once the linking capability is enabled ETS will also setup an Echolink node.
It's Just one more way we can connect to our repeater. An EchoLink node
number will be provided when it's available.
With everyones patience and the continued hard work of various members, ETS
will have a great sounding and highly reliable 220 system.
As it has been said so many times before, use it or lose it.
****Also remember- Tonight is the K2ETS 8PM Information Net. Please don't
forget to check in. Even if it's just to support the net and ETS. There are
a lot of new and exciting things happening with ETSNJ and the Wednesday
Night Net is a great way to hear first hand whats happening.
Please contact me with any questions or comments.
Thanks Everyone- 73,
Gene
