The following event is being coordinated with the
Coast Guard Auxiliary.
If anyone is willing to take a trip to the island, it
should be interesting.

Ham Radio University

This event will allow ham radio operators that are not
Auxiliarists to become more familiar with the Coast
Guard Auxiliary -and- allow communications minded
Auxiliarists who are not hams to become more familiar
with Amateur Radio!

HRU 2006 is Sunday, January 8, 2006, at Briarcliffe
College in Bethpage, NY. Ham Radio University is a
day of education for Amateur Radio operators to share
their knowledge, experience and fellowship. It is
from 8 am until 5 pm and offers 25 different forums
about all aspects of Amateur Radio. Our keynote
speaker this year is Gordon West WB6NOA, a noted
Amateur and electronics expert. Gordon will also run
a forum entitled "boating and ham radio". There is
much more there as well including a club room where
organizations will display information about their
group (the USCG Auxiliary will participate), a special
event station, demonstration room, door prizes,
refreshments and a volunteer exam session for all
levels of Amateur Radio license testing. A suggested
donation of $2 is asked for admission to offset costs
- all profits will be utilized to stage future events.
