MONTHLY ARES NET: Second Monday of each month at 8PM on the Morris County OEM
Repeater; WS2Q 146.895 (PL 151.4) minus 600 Hz.

Congratulations to County Line ARA member, Chick Dimiceli who Parade
Marshall for Hackettown's 136th annual Memorial Day Parade. Chick also
received a certificate from American Legion Post 164 for 60 years of
continuous membership!
2004 Field Day was apparently a success for NNJ clubs and groups with Good
weather and equally good propagation. My thanks to the clubs who sent me
copies of their press releases. The club PIOs and Officers did an outstanding
job in getting local news coverage and presenting the exciting opportunities
ham radio offers. A few even had local elected officials visit their sites. It
was also nice to notice many took advantage of the "F" Class option and
operated from their local OEM centers. I know West Essex RC, Roseland ARA,
Nutley ARC, Middletown ARC, and Piscataway ARC were a few who did just that.
Also, I was happy to receive of FD messages this year from the following
clubs/groups: 10-70 Repeater Assn., Ocean-Monmouth ARA, Nutley ARC,
Cherryville Repeater Assn., and W2GD/2 who operated from the NJ Amateur
Astronomy site in Lebanon Township.
Through the efforts of the Ramsey OEM and Mike Adams, WA2MWT Governor
McGreevey issued a Proclamation recognizing amateur radio's contributions to
emergency communication. The Governor also proclaimed June 26-27, 2004 as
American Radio Relay league Annual Field Day Weekend in New Jersey. Also, in a
local proclamation the Englewood ARA was recognized by the town for taking
part in Field Day. The Englewood ARA has received a proclamation EVERY YEAR
since 1961 from the governing body! A more detailed Field Day report is posted
on our section website. Also, webmaster N2WZB only had four clubs take
advantage of our Field Day listing section this year. We believe a number of
groups missed out on more visitors by not taking advantage of the section-wide
coverage. Hopefully, we will see an increase next year in clubs listing their
sites.
I hope the Kid's Day operating event on June 19th was a success for those
clubs who took part. It's another positive presentation of amateur radio both
for the kids and their parents. Don't forget the New Jersey QSO Party is
coming up the weekend of August 21-22. Again this year I will be sponsoring a
plaque to the highest scoring NNJ single operator. N2ED won for 2003. Are
there challengers for Ed this year? Please check the NNJ Section website for
other news and links. Finally, I'm still open to invitations from clubs to
meet with them and speak about our ARRL Section activities. I hope everyone is
having a fine summer!

                             73, Bill Hudzik W2UDT
