I hope many NJ hams, both North and South Jersey, have written to
Assemblymen
Sires and Green asking for their support in releasing A3065 for vote in the
State Assembly. If you have not done so,PLEASE DO! There still is time to
show
your support. Just go to the Hudson Division webpage (the link is from ARRL
as
well as the NNJ webpage)to get their addresses and a sample letter that has
been prepared as a guide for YOUR RESPONSE.
Your PRB-1 Committee is still
meeting with various Legislators to gather support for A3065. But, we all
still have to get letters to these Legislators by the end of March. I have
been happy to hear that several NNJ clubs have been hosting letter writing
campaigns to press the issue. We have a rough road to travel as New Jersey
is
a "Home Rule" state. That is, each town want's to enforce its own
regulations.
So, when you do write, please stress our support for local events and the
ability to provide communications when all other efforts fail. Also, visit
our
section webpage for more detailed news from the PRB-1 Committee.
Our SEC,
Steve Ostrove K2SO has been doing a fine job in getting an ARES net going in
the Section. It meets the 2nd Monday of each month on the WS2Q (146.895)
Morris OEM repeater at 8PM. The NCS rotates between County DECs. Please
check
in to show your support to the Section. Also, our Morris County DEC, Bruce
Gould KB2UQW is retiring. KQ2F will be replacing him. Please give Kathy the
great support Bruce has gotten. And, Bruce, thank you for all your support
to
the Section. Dick, N3DV has been appointed DEC for SATERN(the Salvation Army
ham radio arm). The section now has liasion with both the Red Cross and
Salvation Army. (Thanks to K2SO).
Congratuations to the 10-70 Repeater Club
for being the FIRST group in the tri-state area to receive the National
Weather Service SKYWARN Active Recognition Award. This is a major
accomplishment and all of NNJ should be proud! On another front, our
Monmouth
County Local Interference Committee, founded by Steve, N2CKH, has been asked
by the West Central Florida Section to use its charter as a model for
coping
with problems WCF is experiencing. This is another fine example of the
efforts
the Section has done as well as being recognized for its work! Thank you,
Steve and your dedicated group. You have set an example for other sections
to
follow.
As I have written in previous months I would like to visit with NNJ
clubs. Just let me know your meeting dates and I will try attend. Again, my
thanks to those clubs who have me on their mailing lists. Also, our webpage
is
another place to post ANY club activity such as special events, licensing
classes and Public Service activities. The address is at the top of the
page.
Mark, N2WZB, our webmaster will be more than happy to list your club!
Remember, the webpage is our source of news for NNJ. Please use it.
