Swiss friends living on VP2E need help resetting their Alpha 87 A.

After taking the amp out of the box, they turned it on and heard a brief
"arcing noise", detected a slight smell of "ozone" and the unit went back
to "POWER OFF".

After trying it to "POWER ON" four to five times, the amp could not be
turned on at all anymore. Apparently, their Operating Manual calls this
"Failure 99".

However, they do not have a Service Manual and have been unable to find any
hints on the Internet how to do a reset.

Can anyone out there describe the reset procedure for the Alpha 87 A?
VP2EKS and VP2EBY would very much appreciate any help/advise.
