For my 2 cents worth, I just wouldn't consider changing anything on this
scale, I have the SX and have limited the mods only to what Dick Byrd
recommends.. but I dont offer a breadth of depth to support my position,
sans the fact , that what do you expect to gain from this change, I ask this
from a rhetorical sense.. and not to challenge your ability.. The "as
built" is so damn rugged, and so well proven, to me it just falls into the
category of why change things.. the only feature lacking is full Auto Tune
capability, but of course that was solved with the 87A, we just dont see the
output levels from that, as we do from the 77, the existing tank ckt. is
smooth during loading and I find it so broad, as it relates to 20 mtrs. that
the sweet spot identifies it self and it's just hard to mis-tune the thing..
The Alpha's just hold their value so well, I just wouldn't do it.. if the
value was down , or reputation was questionable, I'd go for the changes, but
those factors dont come into the mix..
Remember, it was only my 2 cents worth.. so my feelings wont be hurt in the
least.. gud luck.. mac/mc
