[Elecraft] K3S Hi Sig and sluggish performance

As our club's field day began I experienced a problem with my K3S that worked fine the day before. It displayed the warning HI SIG and the user interface was not responding normally, best described as sluggish. The HI SIG warning is expected when in the presence of really strong signals which can happen at a 100 watt field day site. But even after disconnecting the antenna and powering the K3S off and on, the HI SIG warning persisted, as did the sluggishness and at that point I decided it wasn't something I was going to figure out in the field. Unfortunately, now that I'm home and I've had a nap, I tested it again and the problem remains.

Can anyone get me started on some additional troubleshooting?
