Good Evening,

    A chilly week ended today; temperatures are back into the 70s.  
However, the forest is moist again.  Just enough rain to lower the fire 
danger a level.  I hiked along the southern edge of my land following 
elk trails today.  They had found a new path through the fallen and 
rotting alder.  I had to pick each step carefully because that is where 
mountain beavers love to dig their burrows.

    The sun had a number of active, large sunspots this week. Multiple 
flares and at least one fast CME affected amateur frequencies.  Last 
night aurorae were seen in 30 states.  We know the ionosphere is 
recharged after last week's field day usage.  I expect QSB will be 
varied and plentiful.  Plenty of hissing from flying ions too.  Fairly 
normal summer propagation conditions.  We can test them tomorrow.
