Good Evening,
Yesterday I read, "After three days blowing faster than 700 km/s,
the solar wind is slowing down. Intermittent G1-class geomagnetic
storms registered on Nov. 25-27 will now subside, setting the stage for
a quiet weekend." I checked spaceweather.com again today, "A
potentially dangerous sunspot is emerging over the sun's southeastern
limb. Yesterday, while it was still partially eclipsed by the edge of
the sun, it produced an impulsive M6-class solar flare. A pulse of
extreme ultraviolet radiation from this flare ionized Earth's upper
atmosphere, producing a minor shortwave radio blackout over the South
Pacific Ocean. Radio transmissions at frequencies below 20 MHz 'browned
out' around 22:22 UTC on Nov. 28th." Expect the unexpected :)
I awoke to clear, cold, sunny skies today. It has been foggy and
stormy all week. A few sunny days will be nice. A last chance to prune
things back before the snow falls. I have not heard heavy equipment
hauling trucks this week. They must have it all their gear in place.
In a week or two there will be a stream of log trucks of fir, cedar, and
hemlock logs on their way through Vernonia. Big news: Banks, Oregon now
has TWO stop lights. Wow.
Please join us on (or near):

7047 kHz at 0100z Monday (5 PM PST Sunday)
73,
Kevin. KD5ONS
