[Elecraft] K3 intelligence

My K3/100, one of the oldest I suspect [S/N 642], began having problems 
understanding which button I was pushing -- any given button would 
produce varying results depending on which button, how hard I pressed 
it, when I'd last eaten, and the phase of the moon.  The KPOD did the 
same thing so I figured it was the front panel pins.  Elecraft sort of 
verified that and that I probably could handle the replacement and sent 
me a box with two in-line gold plated connectors.  Apparently realizing 
that I was actually going to plug in the soldering station and dismantle 
the radio, the K3 and KPOD began working flawlessly.  I will leave the 
unopened box on the shelf above the K3 and the solder station cold ... 
we'll see how long it takes for the radio to forget that I'm going to do 
the surgery if ever needed.

I purchased my K3/100 at Pacificon and I wish I remembered when but it 
was a long time ago.  I've considered a K4 but I know how to work my K3 
and I'm not keen on learning how to work a new radio with a much bigger 
computer and way more functionality.
