[Elecraft] P3 substitute?

I fully agree.  I've never seen the advantage of the P3 now that high
performance SDRs are so inexpensive, at least relative to the P3.  An
SDRPlay RSP1B costs about $140 at Ham Radio Outlet, and when used with
either HDSDR or SDR Console (a free SDR application) can control the K3
via CAT Commands.  You can use the RSP1B as a standalone receiver like
you do, or you can use it to display the IF output of the K3 or K3s.

Maybe somebody who has used both can offer comparison comments, but the
difference in price is stunning.

If I wish to I can use the panadapter to monitor a band other than that tuned on the TS-590S. The RSP is an independent receiver so it is not constrained to the transceiver IF.
