Good Evening,

The sunspot number has dropped below 100.  Solar flux is still high
at 121 sfu.  There have been a few CMEs from spots on the back side of
the sun.  Those spots will be facing us later in the week.  However,
tomorrow there should be a window of opportunity. We can work our way
through the flux and flares and summer storms.

Summer storms have been infrequent.  If it were not for the nightly
fog the fire danger would be quite high.  Loggers begin at 3 AM, I could
set a clock by them.  The strange thing is the unloaded log trucks pass
by my house, while the loaded ones do not.  They must have cut another
route off the mountain.

Between the deer and the rabbits the area has been cleared of salal
leaves.  They retain their ripe fruit though.  Snow berries are also
ripe so there will be either Spruce or Ruffed Grouse here soon.  They
add a little excitement to the day.  If it is windy they flush only when
you are right on top of them.  But it is nothing like having a covey of
quail explode around you :)

I found out I was miss-identifying bear berries.  The ones in the forest
are called snow berries.
