What modification are you looking for? Are you using it with a K-line 
rig like the K3 or K4? If so, you can train it at multiple segments 
across all bands, and then it will automatically tune to the rig's 
frequency without any RF being present (in the MANual mode, anyway).

IOW, once trained, you can use the KAT500 with any RF power level.

This is how I use my KAT500. I _never_ use it in the AUTO mode because I 
don't want it to start clattering its relays to tune when I start 
transmitting on a new frequency. I turn the VFO, and the relays actuate 
for half a second, and I'm ready to go.
