[Elecraft] Soundcard choice for K3s on Linux help needed

Isn't 'sound card' an obsolete term? In the old days, you used to buy a 'sound card' and install it in the backplane of your desktop. 

But nowadays, when someone says 'sound card' don't they really mean a separate box that goes between the USB ports on your computer and the transceiver's audio in and out?

Musicians have been using these boxes for years. They call them 'digital interfaces'. 

If we're talking about one of these, then we should use the proper terminology: digital interface.

But if they really are still 'cards', then I stand corrected.
