[Elecraft] K2 keyer strange behavior

The keyer in my K2 behaves strangely. It works properly in both Iambic A and Iambic B modes as long as you don't press both paddles at the same time.  On the other hand, if you squeeze/press both levers exactly at the same time, the keyer works like a manual mode "key down" - there are no dots and dashes, just a continuous tone.

Is this the way it should be?
The keyer in the K3 behaves differently.
