I'm happy to see that Rob has finally awakened to the transmitter
problem, which I started banging the alarm about nine years ago.

Analysis of Noise Performance of Selected HF Transceivers For nearly a
decade, Rob Sherwood, NC0B, has been testing and publishing comparisons
of the receive performance of selected transceivers, and receive
performance has greatly improved as a result. Transmitter performance
has been largely ignored. This document, which compares the data from
ARRL lab product reviews, is an attempt to shed the same sort of light
on transmitter performance, and encourage manufacturers to do better.

And a study of one of the worst six months later. Here is a preliminary
in-progress report on my ongoing project to measure the Occupied
Spectrum of various ham rigs. This second file includes some of the
same data, but focuses on the FTDX5000 before and after implementation
of the September 2014 firmware upgrade. For all of these measurements,
both of the K3s in use had the original synthesizer board. Note that
while these reports use Power Point because it's a good way to view the
data, they are not intended for live presentation in their current
preliminary form. NEW! March 2015
