My CM500 works fine, although I added cloth ear muffs for more comfort.
The friction detents in the adjustment are accessible. Try putting some
rosin or other friction enhancer on them. If you are the only one who
ever uses the headset and if your setting was always the same, you could
probably even superglue them in place.
