The KWM-380 may have been a "hot radio" in some people's minds, but I can personally attest to the opposite. I have one, along with a number of KWM-2As and S-Lines. The 380 is a horrible performer. The receiver is incredibly noisy, obstructing reception of all but the loudest signals. The audio is distorted and filtering is poor. Collins' last hurrah was a dud.73,Ed W0YK

I recall little about it except that it was very expensive for the time. I think the KWM-2 went for about $1,500 new? in the 60's, that would be about $15,000 in today's money, although it wouldn't be an attractive transceiver in today' world. But, a -380 was a pretty hot radio in those days.73,Fred ["Skip"] K6DGWSparks NV DM09dnWashoe CountyScott Manthe wrote on 3/30/2022 3:53 PM:> Back in the late 70s or early 80's, when I was a teenager and a > "lowly" Technician, one of my teenager Technician friends won a > KWM-380 at the Cedar Rapids hamfest.
