Several years ago, I switched away from lead-acid batteries in most of 
equipment that uses AA and AAA cells in favor of NiMH rechargeables, 
after reading that they are far less likely to leak. So far, no leaks.

 From the beginning, at least five years ago, the batteries in my KX3 
have been high-capacity NiMH that I bought at Pacificon.
