[Elecraft] KPA1500 problem

I have a similar issue.  Rig is on, Amp is on, all good, been working fine.  Shut off Amp, rx signals drop drastically.  Amp still off, key exciter, 10 watts or so, just a 'dit' is enough, sigs pick back up in receiver, all normal.  Not a 'show stopper", but curious why it is happening. Amp is a month old and other than this, working fine, working fine.  Never been run above 1 kw out.

Isn't that exactly what you would expect to hear if the amplifier was 
spuriously keyed but the K3 was not keyed?  All it would take is a faulty 
keying cable.
