[Elecraft] P span retention

I have the span "sticking" at 30 kHz when I change bands, but the center frequency is changing with the P3 in fixed-tune mode.
I've tried the macros stored in the P3 and, just now, macros in VA2FSQ's Win4K3Suite, but the center frequency doesn't stick.
https://va2fsq.com/
For instance, I want to see 7020-7050 with the center frequency of 7035. I set that either with the buttons on the right side of the P3 or a macro, change bands to 80 and then go back to 40, and the center frequency has changed to 7040, so the span is 7025 to 7055.
It's not a huge problem, of course, just a bit frustrating.

I also recall this problem. I am thinking that if you set them by a CAT command they might not be remembered. You need to make a small change manually to cause it to save them. I might be all wet, but it's easy to try it and see.
