[Elecraft] Update on Interference on 17M

Thanks all for you input and recommendations, helped me submit an "Intruder
report" to DARC.

I do not think the source is local (power supply, solar systems, Etc.) It's
very strong 20+ over S9 and 20 Khz wide, comes and goes at odd times. Best
guess is an HF radar.

Ron

William, I suspect you had an attachment stripped by the reflector. Was it
a sound file or spectrum view?

Ron, does the RFI occur only on 17M?
I presume you've checked other bands?

The switch-mode power conversion
in PV inverters can generate RFI
across a broad spectrum, but it would
be unusual to have an isolated spectral
peak, even line-broadened, at one
discrete frequency in the 18 MHz
range. The switching frequencies
in power converters are typically
much lower. The harmonics of the
switching frequency could appear
in the 17M band, but those would
be weak relative to the fundamental
in the few hundred kHz to perhaps
2 MHz range.

Ron, do you have HF portable RX
capability, even if only temporarily
in your car? Some phone calls or
emails to other hams in your
community would help with local
RFI checks.

Keep us posted!

73,
Mike, K8CN
