[Elecraft] KPA-1500 problem

Dick, during such episodes, what is the SWR meter on the amp reading? 
Could amp be on the verge of protecting itself?

It sounds just like the relays do when the ATU is turned "ON" and it's tuning an antenna for minimum SWR.
