LiFePO4 has several other advantages, besides not swelling
during charge. (Swelling is what caused fires in early devices
in places like airplanes. They contained the battery with no
room for expansion resulting in burst cases and exposed
lithium.) The other ones that come to my mind are:
Cold weather performance. (My winter FD LiFePO4 was reliable at
-15C (5F), unlike my Li-ion laptop.)
Low self-discharge.
Voltage compatibility with "12V" systems.
There are probably others.
