You said it's "great on phones."  Is that to say
you experience the sidetone volume decay
only on the internal or external speaker?

What is your headphone impedance?

The sidetone volume is controlled by
MOSFET Q5 on the Control Board.

Are you able to manually vary the
sidetone volume STL and pitch STP
using the Menu?

If you alter the sidetone level STL, does
the sidetone level remain
constant over time at the new volume
setting?

The slow decay of sidetone volume
suggests drift in the Q5 gate voltage (which
controls the MOSFET channel resistance)
or a problem downstream of Q5, including
the op amp filter which smooths the DAC
sidetone waveform.
