[Elecraft] My K3 just wasn't working right today

I've had the K3 and P3 for a while. Bought them used from a SK estate. I've always felt that it hasn't quite worked 100%. I've followed the manual and Fred Cady's book about adjusting audio, gain, etc. Today for the DX contest, I just couldn't make consistent contacts, but I made some. Whenever I couldn't get a contact that I felt I should, I switched over to my Kenwood TS-590S on the same antenna, and made the contact. I'm not sure where to start troubleshooting this other than dropping off to Elecraft to have them check it. Any suggestions?
