[Elecraft] Foot Switch Doesn't Work - Now Working

Maybe there was some corrosion or something similar one the inside of the
jack and all the plugging and unplugging I imagine you did the last couple
of days cleared enough to bring the resistance down to the point it will
work. You might want to spray some contact cleaner in there and exercise it
some more. Just to keep it working.
