[Elecraft] No CW side tone with KX2

Hi folks, new KX2 owner here.  Have been working for several days to get familiar and operating the KX2.  Have been trying to use as CW practice per the manual prior to trying first QSO but I am not hearing a side tone.

I am using an external key and when I key it “breaks squelch” but I’m not hearing the tone.

Any ideas will be helpful..  thank you and 73s.
