[Elecraft] K2 to the field

I'm thinking about taking my K2/10 out for POTA/SOTA ops which involve some hiking.Mine has the extra heavy duty extended side panels.  I'll be taking a fiberglass pole, microphone, paddle, headphones and battery in addition to other basic day hike stuff.
I'm wondering how other people have transported their K2 to the field?Just throw it in the pack?  Dry bag?  Padded bag or case?  Use something commercial off the shelf or fabricate a carrier?
