[Elecraft] Possible issue with K3 Line In port?

Paula,

Have you verified that you have audio out of the soundcard?
Plug headphones or amplifier computer speakers into the soundcard line 
out jack and do a "transmit" from the software.  Do you hear audio 
tones?  If not, you have a soundcard problem.
