Don't assume you are doing anything wrong.  I have already reported (and Elecraft has confirmed) one KAT500 firmware defect that prevents selection of an enabled antenna.  Maybe you have found another case.   I'd suggest documenting exactly what you have done and sending that information and your current config file to Elecraft support.
