[Elecraft] K2 connecting to N1MM on Laptop

Ray,

It seems like you are expecting the K2 to define the COM port number (or 
perhaps it is just your wording).

The COM port is assigned to the USB to serial adapter by your computer.
Open Device Manager and then expand the ports item - then plug in the 
USB to serial adapter (no need to connect to the K2 at this point).
Observe which device is added and its associated COM port number.
Put that port number into N1MM+.

If you are planning to run several software applications simultaneously, 
then you will have to use Virtual COM ports,  Assign the COM port 
connected to the K2 to the virtual COM port application and then connect 
the various applications to the virtual COM ports created.

If you are running only one application at a time, there is no need for 
the virtual COM port software.
