My friend Don has a slightly faulty memory. The DX-60B (which I still have) was just a transmitter, no rx. It worked well with the SB-303. The HW-16 did indeed have a receiver which was definitely tunable. Both needed the HG-10 VFO to get away from being rock-bound.
Perhaps it was the nerd girls who started paying attention?
