Kevin,
The I/Q output is an analog two channel audio signal, but one of the
signals is 90 degrees delayed from the other, hence in quadrature. If
you plug the output of the I/Q port, one channel at a time into your
computer mic input, you will hear a wideband audio signal. There will
not be anything magic to hear.
FLDIG wants the receiver's filtered audio to drive it. It develops
what it needs from a mono audio input, either line or mic in.
