Dave,

I see that you have it figured out.

As to your question - the K3 and P3 connect together using the IF out 
coax and the RS-232 connection.

The KAT500/KPA500 connect using the AUX cable - that is no 
interconnection between the P3 and the KAT500/KPA500, they are entirely 
separate.
