Yes and it gives you a much wider RF spectrum. It is protected when you
transmit thus no switching or muting is needed. I've used it both ways
and found with the IF output signal to the SDR that the sidebands were
inverted. Thus a LSB signal appears as above the carrier while a USB
signal appears below the carrier. Also it makes for a nice 2nd receiver
with good detected audio for most all modes.
There are many other software applications for the SDR receivers. Most
are FREE which is the better part while some get really sophisticated in
their implementation and features. As to how they interface with
various logging applications, I don't have a clue.
