You can get a very nice dB meter in your 
smart phone with several free apps. The 
only caveat is it will only effectively 
register 80 dB even though the scale 
appears to read higher. This intensity 
level is due to audio limiting circuitry 
in the phone itself. I do have a hand held 
dB meter that is accurate to 120 dB but I 
rarely am around that noise level.
