Exactly right. In the jazz world, some listeners refused to listen to 
Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Thelonious Monk when they first came on 
the scene. Now all are considered giants.

There's another similarity -- Diz never drank or did drugs, but a lazy 
magazine writer said he did, and the lie got repeated for a decade. An 
early example of "fake news."
