WRT carry-on baggage make sure you check with the airline AND with the airport's restrictions as well.
Last year I carried-on a camera tripod that was 35" in total length in a softcase. On my return trip the Vietnamese version of 'TSA' would not allow me to take it as carry-on stating it was too long and showed me a newly written reg. stating max length of a tripod is 30". The airlines are a good start, but sometimes don't have the most up-to-date info.

Hi Thaire,
The 6Gs DXpeditions (TX6G, E6GG, ZL7G + later this year VK9X(full call TBD)) have all included 12m and/or 18m Spiderpoles as antenna supports. We wrap them in bubble wrap and ship them in ski bags or hard ski/snowboard cases as checked baggage. No issues with breakage or loss, but we have had to describe them as 'fishing poles' a couple of times.
If you want to have your antenna support as carry-on baggage, you'll usually need to keep it to a collapsed length of 1.2m (4ft) or less. For that the DX-Wire poles are ideal (available from http://www.dx-wire.de/lng/en/fiberglass-poles/?xploidID=156c8060417ce6049df949b4569517dc
or from SOTABeams)
HTH.
Enjoy the trip!

I will be flying to Europe in a few weeks with my KX3 and a Spiderpole. Has anyone had experience bringing a Spiderpole through security or checking as baggage?
Thanks in advance,
