So turning off the monitor should kill the noise. Easy to test. 

Funny you mention it. I'm going to test a prospective new monitor today. I'm trying a smaller one so I can fit 2 on the operating desk. I find lots of them are unusable, either the monitor or it's PS generates noise, or they are susceptible to RF.
