Are you referring to the "Scan Now" macro here:

Pushing the macro button will display "SCANNOW" in the VFO-B area. If 
you let up on the button it will do a muted scan. But if you keep 
pressing it until it changes to "AF ON" then you will hear an unmuted scan.
